Verdict

The trio of three-year-olds who have won this in the past ten years all arrived having won the Derby at Epsom. GOLDEN HORN follows that well-trodden path and is impossible to oppose despite the presence of top opposition. The Dante winner followed his triumph at Epsom by comfortably outpointing that excellent yardstick The Grey Gatsby in the Eclipse and there doesn't appear any reason to oppose him as he bids to gain his sixth victory in as many races. Gleneagles is a very worthy opponent and he would be going for a ninth straight victory but for being disqualified in the Grand Criterium at Longchamp in October. The brilliant winner of the Guineas at Epsom and the Curragh, he had little to do to beat a sub-standard field in the St James's Palace Stakes but once again was very impressive and will ensure the selection doesn't have things his own way despite never having raced beyond a mile. Time Test stepped out of a handicap to land the Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes at Ascot in very impressive fashion with his trainer reporting him to be a genuine Group 1 horse though he'll need to be all of that and more if he's to beat the two principals.
