Verdict

A cracking renewal in which it is hard to look beyond MONSIEUR CHEVALIER and the all-conquering colt can continue to make hay whilst the sun shines. Connections have made no bones about the fact that this will be the best season for the selection. His latest win, a first Group win at Goodwood, once again showed his searing turn of pace as he scythed through the field to win comfortably. If in the same form it is hard to see anything living with him. The biggest danger may be Corporal Maddox who ran well behind Xtension at Goodwood over seven furlongs; he was unlucky in running there and with the raw pace to cope with this drop in trip he is bound to run well. Orpen Grey's second to Arcano in the July Stakes is a strong piece of form and Tom Dascombe's fast improving colt should give it a bold shot, as should Falasteen and Reignier although each may lack the class to actually win. Taajub and Showcasing both won their maidens well when last seen and they represent big yards, whilst Mr David represents a trainer who has some smart juveniles and this well-related US-bred individual deserves this step up in class. Fantastic stuff, with Monsieur Chevalier expected to win on his first try at this trip.
