William Haggas has won this twice in recent years so Lockheed will have been primed and gained many admirers at Goodwood. Mark Johnston has a tremendous record in the race and Bear Valley certainly deserves his place after impressing in a tough nursery at Goodwood while Best Of Days went into many notebooks after a very impressive debut success at Sandown. The latter is likely to start short here and there's no doubting his potential but the form of that run on the Esher track hasn't worked out. COURAGE UNDER FIRE is the only one of these not to have won a race and couldn't get anywhere near stablemate Caravaggio in the Phoenix Stakes. However, that was his best run so far and with further progress likely he looks the one to be on. Majeste is the only one of the remaining quartet not to have won over the trip but he looked a nice prospect at Newbury and could prove best of them.
