Verdict

This hasn't been a good race for Aidan O'Brien is recent years but he'll be expecting to put matters right with half of the six entries. IDAHO is the obvious choice and it will be a surprise if he's beaten. Three times placed behind Harzand, including in the Derbies at Epsom and the Curragh, he made Dermot Weld's star pull out all the stops in the Irish version and it's difficult to imagine any of these rivals producing a similar level of form. Stable companion The Major General is likely to force the pace while Housesofparliament, though progressing nicely, was behind Across The Stars in the King Edward VII Stakes. The winner, who was obviously not suited by the track when a long way behind the selection at Epsom, picks up a Group 2 penalty for this and it's difficult to see him conceding the weight. Imperial Aviator won a Leicester maiden then a Newbury handicap before finishing almost last in the French Derby and Harrison looks outclassed on what we've seen so far.
