A 3lb penalty may not be enough to stop Gringo now that he has rediscovered winning ways and he is fancied to repel the challenges of Rehearsal and Luberon, while Premier Dane is also of interest as a rare runner on the Flat for Nicky Richards. Premier Dane showed ability on the level during his time in Ireland with Kevin Prendegast - a repeat of which would see him capable of going close in this company. Luberon finished three lengths in front of Pevensey when they met at Windsor and can at least be fancied to uphold the form. Typically for a Mark Johnston-trained horse, he has improved since being upped in trip and he is a likely candidate to cut out the running. As the only three-year-old in the line up, he faces no easy task. But the Johnston work ethic has been paying handsome dividends recently and a bold bid cannot be ruled out. Rehearsal was faced with a stiff test at Ascot last month but did much better than many expected. He is not the most straightforward of characters but has to be considered as a threat at this level. However, he lacks the scope for improvement of the lightly raced Gringo, who has relished his days at the races this summer and he is fancied to continue on his merry way while the ground is still to his liking.
