led early, tracked leaders, chased winner briefly over 3f out, soon ridden, not extra towards finish

Finally a smallish field and preference is for Decameron ahead of Al Wasef. Internationaldebut sets the standard in terms of experience, but a mark of 80 flatters him and it is no wonder that he is back in maiden company. Decameron though has shown plenty of ability in two starts to date and he can get back some of the losses incurred last time. This more conventional track may suit him more and give him a better chance to get into a rhythm. Liberty Key is expected to step up on his debut run now on terra firma, whilst Eton Rifles is a newcomer who may prefer a bit of rain judging by his breeding. Al Wasef seemed to regress from first to second runs but he may have had a valid excuse and the market should help guide to his chances today. Ateesh is likely to be one for another day, so a more interesting newcomer could be Tanto Faz who is beautifully bred but likely to want further in future. This could turn out to be a straightforward finale, and one in which Decameron gets the vote.
