In depth

Verdict

Jewelled Dagger has claims now dropped in trip, however Tanweer looks a potential Sir Michael Stoute improver and he gets the vote ahead of Free Offer and Speedy Sam. A winner on his debut last season, the selection then failed to make a real impact in better company. Quick ground suits so he wouldn't want much rain, but if it stays dry then he must have a good chance as he is likely to improve markedly on his reappearance run here at the track. Free Offer wasn't disgraced in a valuable handicap at Newmarket on her reappearance, and she should be fitter now, having shown a tendency to need a run or two in the past. Zero Tolerance is a course winner, and showed that he was on the way back with a recent second at Beverley, whilst Speedy Sam has been keeping his form well and should again be on the premises. Re Barolo is too inconsistent to recommended, whilst Richard Fahey likes to win here and so his trio, despite a lack of good recent form, must be respected. At a price Nine Stories could scrape a place; however it is Tanweer, receiving the weight-for-age allowance, who gets the nod.
