Shine And Rise is given the narrow vote here ahead of Collette's Choice and Generous Gem. All three were recent winners but the selection did appear to the the most impressive. He was held up before leading on the bit and cruising to a five length success. That victory was gained on the all-weather but he had been progressing nicely on the turf and there could be more to come. Collette's Choice just held on from Cotton Eyed Joe at Musselburgh last time and will find it difficult under a penalty. Generous Jem won well over a mile and a half last time out and should go well again but the extra couple of furlongs is a slight concern. Of the others Dundry would have a chance on early season form, but Shine And Rise looks to have more scope for improvement than most of these and he gets the verdict.
