A wide open finale in which we will tentatively plump for Bold Phoenix ahead of Jarvo, Desert Hawk and Formidable Guest. The selection is visored for the first time today and that may bring about the desired improvement. There is no big secret that there are some attractively-handicapped horses in the yard and this is one who fits into that bracket. Along with the selection, Club Captain is a pound out of the handicap but has claims nonetheless given his fair third last time, whilst Desert Hawk looks well-treated on old form and is a course and distance winner. Jarvo also falls into that bracket but his recent run was lacklustre and he needs to step up significantly on that effort. Formidable Guest has been running well on the all-weather of late and was rewarded with a narrow win last month, whilst Nassar also comes here on the back of an all-weather win. General Flumpa probably needs the ground a bit softer, whilst Zain could be interesting if the money comes for him. An open contest, but Bold Phoenix is given the nod.
