A modest handicap where cases can be made for a good handful of the field, but Compton Aviator just edges the vote over Kind Emperor, My Maite and Companion. The Tony Carroll-trained gelding has been kept busy of late and has fared better than his form figures would suggest. He gets in here off a fair mark and can confirm recent course form with Scenic Lady on these terms. Kind Emperor will be popular after dead-heating here on his reappearance, but he has never been the most consistent of performers and cannot be relied upon to show the same resolution again today from a 3lb higher mark. His claims are best limited to each-way money today, along with Companion, who holds the ability to go close at this level, but is a better horse on the all weather.
