Falmassim has leading claims, with Kasumi, Mocha Java and Mr Cellophane the other main contenders. Falmassim won his maiden at Windsor in July quite nicely, albeit narrowly, and looked one to follow as a result. He was tailed off on his handicap bow next time at Lingfield, where it appeared something was amiss, and he ran much better next time when a close fourth at Haydock. He shaped there as though a seventh furlong would come in very handy, and although it seems that he needs strong handling, Nicky Mackay should be up to the task. Kasumi produced her best effort when just denied at Carlisle last time, and as she appears to be getting her act together now, should be on the premises as well. Mocha Java won at Chepstow the time before last and is still not badly handicapped compared to last year, and along with Mr Cellophane, can be considered for place purposes at least. Luca Cumani does well at the seaside track though, and should have more success with Falmassim.
