As is often the case with Ed Dunlop's two-year-olds, Albaqaa stepped up on his debut effort when a good second at Newmarket on his second start and the son of Medicean is taken to go one better and score here at the main expense of Determind Stand and Copywriter. The last mentioned is an interesting newcomer trained by John Gosden and has to be respected on his debut under Jimmy Fortune. Stablemate Centennial looks the second best of Gosden's runners, while Raven's Pass, who is also from the Josden yard, looks likely to be third best of the trio. Henry Cecil's Jack Dawkins is entitled to come on for his debut outing at Newmarket on unsuitably soft ground, although more solid claims are probably held by Sir Michael Stoute's Determind Stand who should improve again from his second start. Albaqaa has solid claims though and it is he that gets the vote.
