POINT OF LIGHT has been placed with customary elan by his handler and is clearly the one to beat but it will be interesting to see how Pedasus and Royal Bet get on. The selection avoids a penalty for his victory in an apprentice handicap at Bath where he was penalised and had to race from a mark of 72 as a result. He lines up here on the same perch having picked up a penalty for another cosy success at Windsor on Monday. His yard won this two years ago and his chance is there for all to see although there's always a chance that a succession of races in a short period could take their toll. Pedasus held a Guineas entry earlier in the year but now sports a tongue strap for his first run since a quiet run in a competitive Newmarket maiden in April; he had also run poorly on his reappearance but could be handily weighted if he's able to fulfil expectations and his initial promise. There's a question over the longer trip and he's up against a very solid opponent but he's one of the more interesting runners. Royal Bet also moves into handicap company for the first time and he has looked in need of this step up in trip. There may be more to come from him, Venture Capitalist will appreciate being back on a sound surface as may Khayar whilst Diktalina has achieved more than most but it's difficult to get away from Point Of Light.
