Compton's Eleven is the obvious starting point in a race where most have claims of sorts but it may pay to give another chance to the unexposed JUST TIMMY MARCUS. It's surely just a matter of time until Gift Horse wins races for David Evans but his record at this trip leaves plenty to be desired albeit form limited opportunities whilst this track may not play to Buxton's strengths. Sahaal is unexposed and tried in a tongue tie for the first time; he takes up this engagement rather than either of his entries in maidens and his yard is six from thirteen here over the past five seasons. Compton's Eleven returned to form when chasing home Violent Velocity at Newcastle and has slipped to a 15lb lower mark than when last successful just over a year ago; he has won at the track and for Chris Catlin and has plenty in his favour. Pressing Matters failed to run a race in blinkers last time but wore cheekpieces when beating Registrar by a neck over course and distance prior to that with Mudhish just a half length and neck back in fourth; the ground went against Registrar last time and the pair are closely matched on their July running and have conditions in their favour. Captainrisk is having his first run since leaving Marco Botti and has successfully worn a visor in the past; he's competitive from this mark. Dual all-weather winner Just Timmy Marcus achieved little on good to soft on his turf bow but showed up better on a faster surface when a beaten favourite at Redcar. He looked capable of scoring from higher marks than this when successful at Wolverhampton in the winter and the longer trip may unlock further improvement from Just Timmy Marcus.
