KABIS AMIGOS is only the second highest rated in the contest but could take all the beating although Bertie Vista and the poorly drawn Ancient Cross look interesting. Ollie Pears' record in claimers isn't as impressive as in sellers but it's hardly disastrous and Beverley has been a happy hunting ground for him with seven winners from just ten runners at the track. Kabis Amigos won over course and distance as recently as June and looks sure to mount a bold bid. Ancient Cross has returned a beaten favourite twice in his last three starts so it's no real surprise to see him dropped in grade; he has ability but seems to lose his place before running on again and there have to be questions asked of this maiden's desire. High Curragh is reasonably drawn and has the highest BHA rating but he's done most of his racing over six so there have to be doubts about his effectiveness over a stiff seven. The same question needs to be answered by Makshoof who tries cheekpieces following a miserable run in blinkers and Bertie Vista could be a better option by the simple virtue of having run some respectable races of late. Portrush Storm has saved her best for Carlisle but she's been given a real chance at the weights and could feature but we'll stay loyal to Kabis Amigos.
