UPTON SEAS is on the crest of a wave at present and can score at the expense of Digger Derek and Magic Haze. Mick Easterby's charge has risen by 16lbs since making a winning debut for the yard over course and distance on Independence Day but, such was the manner of her victory at Thirsk over an extra quarter of a mile, it's not hard to envisage a repeat performance. She should cope with the drop back in trip and all ground appears to come alike to her so it's difficult to find too many holes in her armour although the opposition is stronger. Chief amongst them is Digger Derek who should ensure that it isn't plain sailing for the selection. He's been a shade disappointing this season but he doesn't do anything quickly and this promises to be the first time this season that he'll have had his ideal conditions so he may be able to take up the slack that the handicapper has cut him. Georgie Bee is unexposed but far from certain to be suited by this longer trip but Magic Haze should improve for it and ran well enough on his belated reappearance to be of interest but he has to prove that he can step up. Merchant Man's breeding offers hope for his chances if the blinkers have the desired effect whilst Veroon has place claims and Steel Trade looks well worth another try at this trip but Upton Seas is the one that they all have to beat.
