SPIDERS STAR has her work cut out to confirm recent form with Jackday but boasts a far more upwardly mobile profile and gets the nod in a tight race. The selection sprung an 80-1 surprise on debut but her recent exploits have shown that that performance was no flash in the pan and a hat-trick can be completed with only a 4lb rise to contend with. She's 10lbs higher than when beating Jackday by a head at Thirsk and Jackday does have form at this track but she hasn't won as often as she might have done. Jackday finished behind another of today's opponents, Miss Keck, back at Thirsk last time and will be assisted by the claim of the talented Jamie Kyne but Alan Swinbank's mare should also have more to offer and may well confirm the form. She was behind Pseudonym when the pair clashed over course and distance last month and Milton Harris' charge is better than he was able to show at Newmarket where the ground wasn't in his favour. He could bounce back but has an all or nothing profile and more consistent performances have been produced by Princess Rainbow who looks well worth a try at this trip as she bids to escape the handicapper's grasp. Fin Vin De Leu showed enough on his one run at this trip (his penultimate outing) not to be dismissed out of hand but his profile is less convincing than that possessed by Spiders Star.
