In depth

Verdict

KAZBOW should have his form franked in the previous race and is fancied to see off Lady Eclair and Mr Plod in this finale. Luca Cumani's gelding finally got off the mark at Kempton in November and was well-fancied for his reappearance run here last month. He was firmly put in his place but should have come on for the run and this looks an easier assignment. The obvious danger is Lady Eclair who improved from first to second runs when getting off the mark at Kempton last time out and an opening mark of 68 looks a fair starting point. It is interesting that Richard Hills stays around for the ride and this 360,000 guineas purchase can improve as her dam did. Mr Plod should be suited by the drop in trip and is not ignored with Daryll Holland booked to ride. Ultimate Quest has been off the track for 665 days and the use of stable apprentice Rosie Jessop might suggest that he will come on plenty for this run, so a bigger threat could be course winner Royal Premier despite being out of the weights. Both Lady Eclair and Kazbow are stepping up in trip and it should suit both, with the tentative vote going to the last-named.
