The Sue Smith-trained Smiths Landing has the best part of two stone in hand of the majority of this bunch judged on hurdles ratings and he should cope with the challenges presented by Yesyes and Alcatras if he takes to fences at the first time of asking. However, it can virtually be assured that his trainer has him ready to go at the first tie of asking in area and it will be a minor shock if Smiths Landing does not have the capabilities to cope at this level. Yesyes should have no problems with the trip and can keep the selection company until the gauntlet is thrown in earnest. Whereas it will take all of Joe Tizzard's skill in the saddle and a little bit of luck for Alcatras to emerge victorious. Octagonal, on the other hand, would have claims on the best of his Irish form and is one to monitor for signs of support now that he has proved that he still wants to race. However, he in turn, is likely to find Smiths Landing too good.
