Another poor race on a less than ordinary Saturday evening card and ROMANTIC QUEEN might be good enough to break her maiden tag, while Dedante and La Verte Rue can show up well. The Ed Dunlop-trained selection is dropped back in trip now after gradually getting the hang of things over 6f, as was the case when she finished runner-up at Great Leighs last time. The Medicean filly is related to a number of winners over the minimum trip, so pedigree suggests that she should be fine. She has a nice draw here, and provided she doesn¿t miss the kick as she did last time, then she has every chance. Conversely, Dedante has raced only at 5f thus far. She was blinkered for the first time at Southwell recently and she probably ran to her mark there in finishing three lengths second to Silent Wonder. In context, that was a decent effort and with the headgear staying on she could go close. La Verte Rue showed up well on debut but was soon treading water at Kempton last time out. If she can return to her earlier effort then she would have some sort of claim but she has a bit to prove. Chimbonda is tongue-strapped for the first-time here, and it would not need that to improve him much to give him a shout. Reg Hollinshead is not noted for first-time juvenile winners but Stash is an interesting contender that is not out of it on pedigree, while a market check on the improving Monsieur Kiss Kiss is advised. Romantic Queen is the suggestion here.
