Not a bad maiden for the time of year and one in which CRIMSON CHINA is likely to prove very hard to beat. Brian Meehan's juveniles tend to find a bundle of improvement between first and second starts so any that shows promise on debut is worth watching next time. Crimson China did more than that, going down by a narrow margin having shown an electric turn of foot at the furlong pole on his Kempton debut, and he's expected to convert this chance. Bow River Arch also comes here on the back of a placed effort at Kempton and he's the biggest threat, although Crimson China ran the course in a much quicker time so he's got to improve. Lexington Bay enjoyed the step up to a mile at Southwell but he needs to translate that form to this quicker surface while Riot Police, rated his equal, has something to prove after six winless starts although on the pick of his form he'd go very close.
