An open looking handicap can go to Flint River ahead of Master Theo and Acomb, with Libre, Templet, Creskeld and Tedstale all worth a mention. This really is a tough one to call, and only a tentative vote goes to Flint River who ran a blinder from out of the handicap when third to Cardinal Venture at Southwell eight days ago. That was his best effort since August, and although not as well treated on the all-weather as on Turf, Hughie Morrison's seven-year-old may be about to strike winning form again. The trip is not a problem, and with a good draw in stall three, he can make the frame at least. There should be very little between Master Theo and Tedstale on their previous encounter here when the latter came off worst by a head, as he is now weighted to just about come out on top. Tedstale has not won for some time but is well handicapped and you can ignore his recent Lingfield effort as they went too slow. Master Theo also has it to do with Libre on an earlier encounter here but the fact is that he is a tough individual who lines up in form so he cannot be discounted. Templet was a little unlucky in running last time but does not win too often, and Creskeld, a 14-1 winner on his last start, hails from a stable having a quiet time at present. Acomb proved a revelation when making all here on his last visit and is yet another to add to the list of possibles, and so only the narrowest of votes goes to Flint River.

Acomb 8-1 Made all, set fast pace, kept on well, won at W'hampton 1m 1f hcp (E3) pol beating King Nicholas by 1l, 12 ran.
