In depth

Verdict

There are no less than seven course and distance winners among the entry for this race and the best of them might prove to be Vlasta Weiner, who is selected ahead of Regal Dream and Million Per Cent. Vlasta Weiner certainly can't be ruled out of things if anywhere near his best, and he warmed up for this with a fair Turf run, his first racecourse appearance for a while. While Captain Darling needs to post a career-best effort if he is to score, Kingsmaite has been heading in the other direction, and is well handicapped if able to capture his best form of 2005. Regal Dream has also dropped to a reasonable mark for his first run on the all-weather since last September, but Right Ted has yet to race on this surface. Sovereignty possibly has it to prove at handicap level, as has Jellytot on this surface. Million Per Cent has been winning at a lowly level but, in this company, is respected, and Desert Opal is well worth another try at today's trip. Finally, Sedge keeps getting raised for getting beaten, although he is consistent, and No Grouse cannot be ruled out if anywhere near his best from what is a dropping mark. It all adds up to a tricky race, in which the selection is Vlasta Weiner.
