In depth

Verdict

If Commando Scott turns out, he can pay to support over Royal Dignitary, Glenbuck and Hiccups in a wide-open start to proceedings. The selection is set to turn out in Friday's Silver Cup, but if allowed to run here, must surely make his presence felt. He is actually better over shorter when the ground is soft, so any rain would hinder his chances of lasting out the seven furlongs, but as long as it remains dry, then he should make his presence felt based on earlier efforts. In fact, since joining his current stable from Alan Berry, the five-year-old is unbeaten in two visits to the Scottish track. Royal Dignitary is one of four Dandy Nicholls runners, and lines up after making all over a mile at Musselburgh last time. He is in the same ownership as Alan Bailey's Glenbuck who has won each of his last three starts and is yet another with solid claims. Hiccups is hard to get right, but the former Lynda Ramsden inmate has now won two out of his last three outings, and if getting the breaks, can come flying through to get involved. A tricky opener is taken to go to Commando Scott, and in his absence, Royal Dignitary.
