Vancouver Gold holds a solid chance in this claimer and can beat stable companion Distant Country, with True Night also expected to be involved in the finish. Karl Burke's four-year-old landed a couple of mile events at Southwell last month before finishing a valiant third at Musselburgh on atrocious ground. Back on an artificial track he can regain the winning thread. Distant Country was a close third behind today's rival Merdiff over course and distance last time. On four pounds better terms he should reverse the form with that rival and play a major part in the finish. True Night comes into the argument on his recent run at Lingfield when runner up to Banjo Bay and Nimello cannot easily be discounted despite his advancing years. However Vancouver Gold is at the top of his game and he looks the one to be on.
