Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

If JUBILANT NOTE can bring his improvement over obstacles to this sphere then he's thrown in, so we'll chance Gordon Elliott's runner ahead of Kings Maiden and Jezza is a relatively weak affair. The Irish handler is a master at placing his horses and the market often proves a guide as to their claims to take note of any moves, but without the help of betting moves we're still more than happy to side with him. The Saddler's Wells gelding is now rated 139 over fences so this mark of 62 should prove most lenient in the fullness of time. The concern is he's been off the track since August but in the anticipation he's ready to go he's selected. Kings Maiden has been off the track for a while too but looks fairly weighted for his return. The mare has a course and distance win to her name and is a generally consistent type in this grade so a big run is anticipated. At the other end of the weights Jezza enters calculations despite a 2lb rise for suffering defeat last time. There was no shame in that effort behind a well backed and well-in rival so another place is entirely possible, although he might've come up against another handicap snip here. Altos Reales is only a couple of pounds higher than when winning here in December but his form since has been poor and Venir Rouge ran reasonably last time but needs more here, to a bigger threat at a price is Party Palace providing she's ready to roll. The market may prove the biggest guide here but we like the look of the Irish raider Jubilant Note and select him accordingly.
