In depth
Verdict
VEROON can gain recompense for a near miss at Ripon with Hip Hip Hooray and King's Song also making some appeal. The selection did not enjoy much cover at Ripon in what was a muddling affair. In the hope that this race does not develop into a tactical farce, we will offer him up again. Hip Hip Hooray has had plenty of use made of her this term. She was disappointing when well touted for a Sandown prize but had won a Windsor contest during the summer in decent style. King's Song makes a handicap debut off a mark of 68. This could be a light mark if we factor into the equation that he was beaten six lengths by Monitor Closely at Newbury last term. Silver Print has been given a dramatic drop by the assessor though not without good reason. Satisfaction Life was given the swerve by punters on a British debut and the racecourse evidence suggests that this was wise. Primera Vista finished just ahead of King's Song when the pair last met and is asked to give away 2lb to that rival today. Highland Lassie did not seem to act at Bath at all and that run can be safely forgiven. A real headscratcher that can go to Veroon.
