Another tough race to call with not much between many of the runners, the principals likely to be Hagley Park, Lone Piper and Sergeant Slipper, with the vote going to Hagley Park. The gelding from the Mick Quinn yard comes into this race in better form than most of his rivals and was a good second behind Best Lead. A reproduction of that effort would make him hard to beat. Lone Piper is from the in-form Milton Bradley yard and he has dropped to a handy mark. However, he showed very little on his debut this season so cannot be backed with any confidence. Sergeant Slipper is another that has his own ideas about the game but he to looks well weighted on his best form, and if he gets away from the stalls on level terms, would have definite place claims in this dire affair. Of the remainder, Torrent is another that could go well but although he travels well in his races, he finds little off the bridle so we are happy to side with the in form Hagley Park.
