The second division of the extended mile handicap brings proceedings to an end at Wolverhampton and many will fancy it to go the way of Michael Wigham's King's Icon, who has shown improved form in his last three starts but he faces no easy task off his new mark and preference is for SADDLERS BEND, who gets the vote ahead of Wavertree Warrior. Nick Littmoden's gelding has, like the selection, been showing better form of late and should be thereabouts again but he is possibly better on the faster Polytrack surface at Lingfield than here. Lee Smyth's Coolnaharan ran well enough behind Granny McPhee last month and has to be considered along with Marjury Daw, who has run consistently well from limited opportunities. Preference though is for George Baker's Saddlers Bend, who opened his account when landing an apprentice handicap here last month and as he escapes a penalty for that success and can actually race off a 1lb lower mark he looks the one to be on.
