The second maiden of the night sees more experience among the runners than in the opener, with only two debutantes running, and the one we like here is MAVERIN, who we prefer to Summers Target and Russian Spirit. Jeremy Noseda's colt has been regularly knocking on the door, albeit expensive to follow, being placed in his last three runs in this sort of race. He's handily drawn, and if his experience is ever going to tell it could be tonight. Summers Target seems to be improving, and if coming on again after a couple of runs this season ought to be involved. Richard Hughes on board could be a significant booking for Robert Cowell's only runner on the card, who's got a good high draw. Russian Spirit had one decent run as a two year old, but her breeding suggests she'll improve as she gets older, but a low draw would be a negative. Any support for newcomer Sutton Veny should be noted, given the yard's form and the impressive time Aussie jockey Claire Lindop's having here. The high draw is another plus. The market always needs to be watched in this sort of contest, but we'll give one more chance to Maverin.
