Verdict

It should be a happy day for supporters of THE FONZ and he gets our vote over Something Perfect and Midnight Cruiser. Sir Michael Stoute's colt won a maiden at Beverley and followed that up with a respectable effort at Sandown when he finished third behind Antinori. He is clearly no stable star but this is a weak handicap and he should be up to landing the prize. Something Perfect wasn't beaten far at Newmarket last month but she looked far from straightforward and she gave the impression that she might benefit from the fitting of headgear. Midnight Cruiser is a well-bred colt and the step-up in trip should suit, but being by Captain Rio he may be best served with a bit of cut in the ground. Ralph Beckett's yard are beginning to find some form so Such Optimism could prove best of the others, although she has been off the racecourse since October so she may benefit from the run. This will not take much winning and The Fonz is the pick.
