Plenty of deadwood in the race and a chance is taken on one of the newcomers in the form of VISUALIZE; Bethlehem and Hidden look like the most obvious dangers. The selection is a daughter of Medicean and out of a mare who did well at three. Normally the debutante runners from the yard can be taken on as they tend to need the run but this looks a very winnable race and she might be wise enough to win on debut. Queen Of Wands and Bethlehem represent a trainer in good form and improvement can be expected from both, with the former stepping up in trip which looks sure to suit. Plus Ultra was blinkered for his debut at Newmarket but was disappointing. Better is expected today however as he steps up in trip, although he may not win until tried over a mile and a half. Rubbinghouse Com was well-held on debut, whilst Cuckoo Rock will be eligible for handicaps after this run. Of more interest then is Hidden who makes his debut this evening. He is a half-brother to Junior and Humble Opinion and is likely to have an impact, although presumably there have been good reasons for him not racing until now. The market should help guide, but preference is for Visualize.
