UNCLE FRED gets the nod now stepped back in trip and is preferred to Negotiation and Everybody Knows in a competitive race. The selection was well held at the end of last year when tried over ten furlongs at Kempton. Now back to a mile on quick ground he should be capable of running a big race. If he finds this mark of 84 beyond him then it may pay to side with Everybody Knows. Jo Crowley's son of King's Best has a good record at this time of year and has gone well fresh in the past. Laudatory drops in grade and is a player if handling the ground, Negotiation looks to have ideal conditions and should run well, whilst Calypso Bay is unexposed and is not written off now 5lb lower than his last run. L'Hirondelle is well treated on his all-weather form, Illuminative is unexposed and doesn't look harshly treated racing off a mark of 76 on his handicap debut, whilst Astrodonna is more consistent than Councellor but with the latter well handicapped both are considered dangers. An open handicap, but preference is for Uncle Fred.
