PLAISTERER, April Fool and Magroom catch the eyenhere, with Plaisterer given the nod. The selection was a convincing scorer over ten furlongs last week, and she seemed to appreciate the give underfoot. Carrying a 7lb penalty here may not stop her, and she has the speed to cope with the drop in trip, though she is untried at the distance. In contrast, April Fool is proven at the trip, scoring at Bath recently. He is consistent, and registered that win after slipping down the handicap. 5lbs higher here, and with the ground slower than he prefers, he is taken on. Magroom is 7lbs better with April Fool for a beating of over three lengths, but he has not won for 20 months and would also prefer the ground to be quicker. Plaisterer seems assured of a good pace in this small field which will see him to good effect over this shorter trip, and he can land the opener.
