Verdict

Nicholascopernicus went close here in June but never looked likely to take a hand in the finish at Newmarket on Saturday. Hymenaios didn't appear to stay 1m4f at Salisbury last time but any easing of the ground would suit the Hannon three-year-old and would also help First Post, though the latter's best form has come over a mile at Sandown. Perfect Cracker won twice over course and distance in June but couldn't handle the extra weight when bidding for a hat-trick at Doncaster. French import L'ORFEO has his first run for almost a year and sports the Godolphin blue for the first time but there is just a chance that he'll prove a bit better than this grade and he's unlikely to fail through lack of fitness.
