In depth

Verdict

It might pay to side with Polar Dawn here, although others to consider are Just A Try, Rawaabet, Eloquent Knight and Courageously. The selection seems sure to improve for her seasonal return at Bath last time, having been noted making late headway. Rather generously, the handicapper has dropped her two pounds for that effort and that should see her very competitive in this contest. Rawaabet ran well over course and distance last time and today's going might suit him better now than then, so he is one to consider. So is Just A Try, who was noted staying on at Kempton last time and races from the same mark today. From a four-pound higher mark, the Leicester winner Eloquent Knight is entitled to consideration, as that was a step up what he had achieved before. The lightly-raced Russian General should be open to some improvement on Turf, but his stablemate Courageously, who kept up his improvement by scoring at Warwick last time, looks a better option from the yard and should run well here. Dudley Docker might also have some improvement in him, while Tybalt holds claims if in the same frame of mind that saw him finish second to Rebel Rebel at Lingfield two runs ago. The drop in trip from last time and the booking of Johnny Murtagh means Nobelix should be given some thought but, for the winner, we return to Polar Dawn.
