Verdict

The most valuable race on the card has produced a tight betting heat and marginal preference is for Lord North. Paul Webber's charge is best at this trip as he showed when an easy 20-length winner at Leicester in December. The son of Mister Lord has twice disappointed over further since but a return to his optimum trip should ensure that he will take plenty of beating off a fair mark. Wise King ended a long losing sequence when scoring over course and distance last time but that was a weak affair and the veteran may struggle off a 5lb higher mark. Peccadillo has been well below his best since recording back-to-back wins in September while Perange does not look the force of old so the consistent Flinders Chase should prove a bigger threat.
