steadied start, pulled hard in rear, headway over 1f out, soon ridden, stayed on well
led steady pace, quickened halfway, headed over 1f out, soon faded
in touch, chased leaders over 1f out, kept on, never able to challenge
dwelt, held up in rear, headway approaching final furlong, weakened inside final furlong
tracked leader, ridden, every chance over 2f out, stayed on well
slowly into stride, keen hold in rear, never dangerous
This is quite a trappy handicap but Golden Desert has been in decent form and he can see off the likes of Gallantry and H Harrison. The selection has twice gone close recently and he deserves to get his head in front on the turf. He did nothing wrong last time when beaten close home by Manchurian and a reproduction of that effort should suffice today. Gallantry is a course and distance winner and he bounced back to form when he was second behind Daaweitza at Chester last time. He is on a decent mark and it would not be a surprise to see him go close. H Harrison went close at Catterick last time and this slight step-up in trip will certainly play to his strengths. Hiccups has got course and distance winning form and he can go well at a price, but for the winner we will stick with Golden Desert.
