RARE RUBY has looked much improved since returning this season and gets the nod here with two of either, My Mate Max, Kristallo, Kiho or Longboat Key expected to make up the minors. The selection remains on a lowly mark despite showing some impressive form of late and should be more than capable of victory here. She was the runner up over 2 miles at Nottingham just two starts ago and followed up with a decent win over 14f at the same course. Conditions here look perfect for the five-year-old and she looks more than capable of recording her second consecutive win. My Mate Max has finished runner up at the last couple of attempts and similar is expected today. He's at his best on the turf and looks much improved since switching from the polytrack. If he can reproduce his last run off this sort of mark then he should do well again here but the mark of 73 may just hold him. Kristallo put in a decent effort when third here last week. He was beaten favourite that day but seemed to stay on well enough and has a good record on this track. Kiho and Longboat Key should enter the mix and keep this race interesting out at the front but under such conditions we can look no further than Rare Ruby.
