In depth

Verdict

Lady Bernie can defy a penalty at the expense of stablemates Lit Up and Gypsy Scholar, Sheikhman, and Soixante. Lady Bernie created a big impression when making a winning debut here in February, pulling right away up the hill to score with ease despite showing signs of greenness. Ground conditions are vastly different now, but this half-sister to quite a few winners will have improved in the interim, and she is taken to follow up. Lit Up was a fair eighth on his Newbury bow and can only have learnt from that, while stablemate Gypsy Scholar will be seen to better effect over further in time. Sheikhman only revealed a glimmer of his ability in Ireland and should be noted in the market, while Soixante, whose family includes Takes The Stand, is another that could easily figure in the finish on her racecourse debut. Lady Bernie has the form in the bag though, and can prove too strong for her rivals in the finale.
