The well-weighted Kavi is the pick ahead of Shirazi, Jug Of Punch and Roman Rampage, with Eurocelt added to the list. Kavi loves to hear his hooves rattle, and with that in mind, Simon Earle's charge will have conditions to suit as he returns to hurdling after a spell on the all-weather. Although he has not actually won since May 2005, the way that he has been staying on at the end of his races on the Lingfield Polytrack suggests that he will relish today's trip, and with fitness not an issue, he looks the part, with Richard Johnson in the saddle. If the going had been on the soft side, then Eurocelt would have been put up as a major threat, as he has caught the eye staying on at the finish on both outings for Pat Murphy. His ability to repeat those efforts on this ground is open to question though, and a bigger danger may well be Shirazi who won on fast ground at Newton Abbot, albeit four years ago. His recent efforts have been encouraging, and a place at least beckons. Jug Of Punch might just struggle with his weight, while Roman Rampage, another with slight ground reservations, has had a break since finishing tired at Newbury in January. All in all, we expect Kavi to run a big race, with everything going for him.
