In depth

Verdict

Inherent can come out on top over Nanard, Safari Adventures, Lescer's Lad and Scots Dragoon to name but a few. Inherent looked a young lady with a bright future after defeating subsequent winner Tambourine Davis in a Newbury bumper in December 2005, but was on the sidelines for 10-months until making a promising debut over hurdles at Ascot in February. By that time she had moved from Clive Cox to Henry Daly, and on the strength of that second to First Feerie when in need of the run, she is taken to go one better today. Nanard was tiring in the heavy ground when a faller at Fontwell last time, and Pipe's charge, who is related to smart sorts on the dam's side, is expected to put up a much better showing here. Safari Adventures has shown all his best form with cut in the ground, but he has taken on decent opponents on the odd occasion, so cannot be ruled out entirely, while Lescer's Lad may appreciate the switch back to hurdles, but today's trip is surely too short for him. Scots Dragoon is a half-brother to useful chaser Scots Grey, and that is where his future lies as well, and Fermat is best watched on his debut over timber, with preference for Inherent.
