Venice Road was all out to win under testing conditions in a similar contest at Taunton earlier this month and may struggle to follow up off a 5lb higher mark today so preference is for Hardybuck with Errol rated the pick of the remainder. The selection won in heavy ground in October but has shown a similar level of form on a faster surface and remains feasibly well treated, especially for one so unexposed. Little Rort may do better on this ground having been pulled up under testing conditions on his last two starts although more solid claims are held by Errol, who has been waiting for better ground but may just need another run to put him spot on. This Way That Way is less exposed than most but has given little sign of encouragement so far, while Blackthorn is probably a shade high in the weights. The lightly raced Go Harvey Go and fast ground specialist Dizzy Future are others worthy of a mention but the vote in a largely unappealing contest goes to Hardybuck.
