CAPE VALE bids to follow up on his recent Ffos Las success and is taken to do so with Sudden Impact and Tyfos posing as the main dangers. David Nicholls has his team of horses in great order at present and was rewarded with a double when he raided the Welsh venue of Ffos Las at their opening flat meeting. Cape Vale was one of those winners for which he accrues a six pound penalty. Connections seem certain that he is still well treated and he is recommended again before the handicapper has the chance to reassess his rating. Top weight Sudden Impact is six pounds higher than when winning at Haydock. He has a definite preference for cut in the ground with all three of his wins obtaining on soft ground. There is plenty of rain about the country this week and his connections will be praying the majority of it land on the surface of Thirsk racecourse. Tyfos is very versatile, winning under a variety of ground conditions and surfaces. His latest win came at Epsom when winning off a mark of 73. He has since run well in defeat off a four pound higher mark and with luck in running he should not be far away once again. Cape Vale comes from a yard in form, still looks on the upgrade and is the percentage call.
