In depth

Verdict

Before The Mast gets a tentative vote over Manoram, Fortune Point and Golden Duck. Before The Mast was pulled up on his last visit here in May, but the ground was very testing that day, and since then he has run well in defeat at both Fontwell and Uttoxeter. That augurs well for his chances today, and off what appears to be a decent weight, he is taken to come good. Manoram has the ability to prevail but has been costly to follow this term, while Fortune Point has gone up in the weights and will do well to follow up. Golden Duck is only lightly-raced and although best watched here, can be placed to good effect this season. An open affair can go to Before The Mast.
