held up in touch, driven and effort over 2f out, soon one pace
always prominent, led over 4f out, driven inside final furlong, kept on well
led until over 4f out, ridden and weakened over 2f out
outpaced in mid-division, some late headway, never troubled leaders
chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, soon weakened
slowly into stride, outpaced
behind, moderate late headway, never nearer
slowly into stride, always outpaced
chased leaders, ridden halfway, soon one pace
tracked leaders, ridden to challenge over 1f out, stayed on inside final furlong
Colour Code can build on an encouraging debut to beat the likes of Celtic Solitude and Atlantic Breeze. Colour Code, a nicely named son of Spectrum, made his racecourse bow at Wolverhampton just over a fortnight ago, shaping like a sure-fire future winner behind the more experienced Pompey Blue. Held up at the back, he really took hold of the bit inside the final furlong, and the step up in trip here will be very much in his favour. Marcus Tregoning's colt will take all the beating in the colours of Ivan Allan. The Peter Savill-owned Celtic Solitude surely has more to offer after a quiet introduction at Musselburgh. A daughter of Celtic Swing, and a full sister to Celtic Silence, she will be placed to win to enhance her paddock value. Of the rest, Atlantic Breeze makes some appeal. She is a half-sister to six winners, including some on the all-weather, so should be capable of scoring on this surface, but on this occasion she and the rest have it to do to stop Colour Code from opening his account.
