Ethiopia holds decent claims, Mac Halen, Transporter and Saint Espiegle are considered but MASKA PONY is nominated. The selection is relatively unexposed after just eight career starts during which he has made the frame twice, including on quick ground at this track in November. That was one of his better performances whilst he also ran encouragingly last time in ground that wouldn't have been ideal; these conditions should see him in a better light. Ethiopia hasn't been harshly dealt with by the handicapper for his narrow win at Plumpton and looks to be the one to beat providing that he's equally effective on this surface which will be the fastest that he's encountered in his short career to date. Mac Halen has been well beaten the last twice but has ability and is from a yard that's been amongst the winners whilst Transporter is worth bearing in mind if the market gives out the right signals. Saint Espiegle shaped as though this trip would be right down his street when staying on behind an in-form rival last time and could be a factor if he can build on that but Maska Pony is fancied to gain the upper hand.
