In depth

Verdict

A typically poor seller that can be taken by The Mog, with Greenkeys and Timeless Chick also likely to be prominent in a race which should not take much winning. The selection is well used to selling company on both the flat and over hurdles and put in his best effort for some time when a 10 length second to Italian Counsel at Worcester last time in a similar contest. A reproduction of that effort from Simon Bowring's gelding should be good enough, and though consistency is not the strongest suit of these low-graders, we will side with him to go one better here. Timeless Chick is perhaps the one to capitalise on any shortcomings from the selection. Another who is well used to plating, the mare was a well beaten second to Prince Among Men at Hereford on decent ground in November, before disappointing at Market Rasen next time. With ground conditions to suit here, she still has to prove she stays this far and also has a long absence to overcome. If she is fully wound up then she could claim a place. Meanwhile, Greenkeys is another who is at home among this moderate lot, but is a bona fide one pacer and despite jumping well enough, he surely will not have the speed and stamina to finish anywhere nearer than third, so the vote goes to The Mog.
