    Verdict

Another less than competitive event, with none of the seven runners in the best sort of form, but something has to win and it may pay to follow Pipe and McCoy with Rescindo, who may prove too strong for winning chaser Jericho III. Rescindo has been reasonably consistent without ever threatening to get his head in front, but this looks his easiest task for a while and should make a bold bid to gain that elusive victory. Jericho III has been somewhat disappointing since winning his bumper, for he looked as though he would go a long way. It may seem strange to say he has been disappointing, having won his bumper, won over hurdles and over fences, but in between, there has been some less than inspiring efforts. If on a going day, he would make short work of these. Best of the rest should be Angels Venture, who comes here fit from the flat and can run off a 3lbs lower mark than when last seen over timber, which puts him in here with a squeak on his best form.
