Verdict

An interesting contest which should boil down to a match between Tactful Remark and Madalyar, with the former getting the nod. Martin Pipe's gelding has far and away the best form on offer and has plenty in hand on official ratings. He can be followed home, at a safe distance by Madalyar, who caught the stewards, along with every one else's eye, when found guilty of not doing his best at Fakenham, just before Christmas. He is better than he has shown over hurdles so far, but he will have to wait a little longer before he gets his head in front.
